Remedial Massage

Remedial massage technique is a great way to release muscle tension, especially for those that suffer from acute and chronic pain. However, it differs from relaxation massage, as it is an active strategy to further treat your muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body. This assists rehabilitation, areas that you are experiencing pain and for injury management.

We understand the value of feeling healthy, pain free and having a care plan to ensure restoration of balance, alignment and mobility. Please feel free to chat with one of our therapists to discuss what you are most comfortable with and how we can help you.

Meet Vicki

I have been practicing Remedial Massage since 2006, and believe that massage is more than just treating your painful spots. I look at the body as a whole, and also treat the other muscles that have been affected and contributing to the problem. I don’t “beat” the muscles, but use a combination of introductory strokes and deep tissue techniques to break down adhesions that affect your movements.

Continued...

I educate my clients about these sore muscles, what movements are causing their pain and how massage and exercise will help. The result is a body that moves more efficiently. I regularly weight train, and practice yoga and Pilates. I enjoy reading, cinema, music, and good tv. I have been a visual artist my whole life. Vicki is available for appointments on Monday and Friday.

Reformer Pilates

If you’ve ever wanted to improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility as well as relieve stress and tension and have some great FUN in the process, (and let’s face it we all probably need this after the last 6 months) then join our reformer pilates classes!!!

In the 1920s

Physical trainer Joseph Pilates introduced Pilates into America as a way to help injured athletes and dancers safely return to exercise and maintain their fitness. Since then, Pilates has been adapted to suit people in the general community.

Reformer Pilates - What’s all the fuss about?

Reformer Pilates is done using the Pilates reformer machine and is generally more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates as it adds resistance to the Pilates exercises via the use of the springs which form part of the machine.

Continued...

The exercises usually work muscles through a large range of motion which is ideal for building and toning muscles as well increasing stability through the joints. Reformer Pilates works more areas than matwork as matwork is mostly core whereas reformer works the entire body and more the peripheral muscles of the arms and legs.
